Onspot is an important part of the toolbox

Written by Torstein Magelsen,

- We have chosen to have Onspot on the entire truck fleet as an important contribution to safety. For safety has priority 1 in our company. Ordinary chain is the first choice, and should be used if it is mandatory. Onspot is there as a help as you did not anticipate that it was slippery, says HSE - manager of Litra Gass AS, Bård Ivar Bru.

- We transport gas and are therefore very concerned about safety and that the drivers have the training that takes care of safety in the best possible way. All drivers we hire must go through a mandatory course and this includes requirements for chaining and the use of Onspot. Because we have standardized Onspot on all vehicles, all drivers know - in the event of a truck exchange, that Onspot is in place. And they can activate it quickly when an unexpectedly difficult situation arises.

Bru further says that today's modern trucks makes it almost impossible to put a chain on the inner wheel of the drive axle. Onspot also comes in here, you can use this in addition to the chain on the outer wheel.

-I say that we equip the drivers with a "toolbox" they will use to carry out a safe transport. This toolbox includes Onspot.

Bru is HSE manager, and has worked in the company since 2007. He joined the company by working for Jarl Kvam Transport AS when they merged with Scan Tank Gass AS which became Litra Gass AS.

BIBru_LitraGass 4-3 640wSafety has priority number 1 in our company, therefore we have Onspot as standard on all our trucks, says HSE manager in Litra Gass AS, Bård Ivar Bru.

He further says that maintenance of Onspot has also been put into a system at Litra Gass.

-Onspot is mounted on the most exposed point on a truck in terms of splashes of salt, mud, gravel and pebbles. To be on the safe side, we therefore have a routine of dismantling the Onspots in the spring, giving them maintenance and then reassembling them as winter approaches. For our drivers will never experience that Onspot fails them, due to lack of maintenance, concludes Bård Ivar Bru, HSE manager at Litra Gass AS.
