Updated regulation in France for driving your vehicle in mountain areas

For driving in specific mountain areas in France, your vehicle must be equipped with snow tyres or carry ”snow chains” applicable for your vehicle. Onspot can be used here too.   Read more here:

In October 19, 2021, the French Govenment issued a statement that snow chains are manadatory in mountain areas. Read the statement here:  Link to the securite-routiere.gouv.fr

From 1/11 to 31/3, driving in specific mountain areas in France, your vehicle must be equipped with snow tyres or carry ”snow chains” applicable for your vehicle. “Snow chains” can be metallic snow chains or other equivalent removable devices. The device must fulfil technical requirements defined in article 9-12 of Arrêté du 18 juillet 1985 relative aux dispositifs antidérapants équipant les pneumatiques
