FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
North Vernon, Indiana, USA — Onspot of North America, a leading manufacturer of automatic tire chain systems for commercial vehicles, announced an expanded focus on government and defense markets, led by Bob Schaefer, Business Development Manager — Government & Defense.
Schaefer stepped into the newly created role in September 2025 and is responsible for strengthening Onspot’s engagement with state and local government fleets, supporting agencies as they evaluate traction, safety, and operational reliability for mission-critical vehicles. His role also includes supporting select defense-aligned initiatives within the broader Onspot and Ringfeder portfolio.
With extensive experience in municipal and work-truck markets, including snow-and-ice operations and fleet-focused equipment sales, Schaefer brings a consultative approach rooted in problem-solving and operational understanding. He is also a Six Sigma Black Belt, enabling him to work across technical, operational, and procurement considerations when engaging with government stakeholders.
“Government fleets operate in complex environments where reliability and safety are non-negotiable,” said Shane Woodman, Onspot's VP Sales and Marketing. “Bob’s experience and leadership strengthen our ability to support agencies with solutions that scale, integrate early in the specification process, and perform when conditions are most challenging.”
Schaefer’s focus reflects a broader opportunity within the government sector, where large numbers of fleet vehicles are purchased and deployed each year, yet traction solutions are not always evaluated early in the vehicle specification or procurement process. In his role, he works with purchasing, fleet management, and operations teams to help agencies assess Onspot solutions for both new vehicle builds and large-scale retrofit programs.
“What motivates me is helping fleets solve real-world challenges in a practical way,” said Bob Schaefer. “Government agencies have a responsibility to keep vehicles moving safely, often in difficult conditions. My role is to listen first, understand how fleets operate, and help them apply solutions that improve traction and reduce risk without adding unnecessary complexity.”
